Granthams started out as a sign-making and signwriting business in Blackpool 132 years ago in 1890. Since introducing the first fully working solvent printer to the industry its Graphic Technology division has evolved to supply wide-format kit for the outdoor graphics and signage industry.

During this time Entwistle Group, which was founded in 1899, has been growing its own wide-format business with a focus on CAD and inkjet graphics printers and supplies alongside its core sustainable print business.

In May 2022, Grantham’s Graphic Technology division joined the Entwistle Group in a move that both companies say will strengthen the Group due to Grantham’s knowledge and expertise.

Kirsty Reader, general manager of Granthams Graphic Technology describes the business move as an “incredible opportunity for both teams to share their extensive knowledge of the industry”.

She adds: “This partnership will give our businesses a chance to expand together and tap into new and exciting areas of the industry. We’ve known and worked alongside Entwistles for many years as part of the GDL Network, so we are thrilled to be joining forces.”

The GDL Network is a non-profit organisation made up of 18 members comprising of digital print businesses and resellers of machines and consumables.

As a result of the partnership, Entwistle Group will take ownership of Preston-based Granthams Graphic Technology however all management staff and facilities will remain the same. The company will operate under the new formal trading name of Granthams GT Limited.

Granthams Copy and Print Bureau and the Online Art and Graphic Supplies operation in Blackpool will remain unaffected and under the ownership of Granthams Limited.
