After suffering a fire at its cycling showroom, Concept Cycles was able to relocate and open a brand-new showroom in less than three weeks with help from PPDS.

The cycle store was forced to open a popup store following a fire

When a fire reduced capacity at its Hamburg store, the cycle shop made the decision to open a new pop-up showroom nearby.

The ‘state-of-the-art’ showroom is dedicated to showcasing bikes and accessories from the brand Specialized, which is a premium partner of Concept Cycles.

To bring the pop-up to life, PPDS provided 17 Philips displays, touch-screen digital signage, and a videowall; and local audio visual (AV) integration firm, P.O.S Television, installed the signage.

The pop-up is a 100m-long space on the ground floor of a hotel built in 1910, and the displays which range from 24” to 75” have been placed strategically throughout the space.

The videowall which is made up of nine screens was designed to provide a ‘wow factor’ on entrance. It provides information and striking imagery and can be managed remotely.

For added customer service experience, a digital touch screen enables visitors to do their own research in-store without the need to wait for a member of staff.

As social distancing rules are still in place in Germany, shops have a maximum capacity to ensure visitors stay safe whilst shopping. PPDS’ PeopleCount solution has been implemented in the pop-up to enable Concept Cycles to keep track of capacity.

Konstantin Flabouriaris of PPDS says: “From an unusual empty space, our solutions have brought the Specialized Concept Store to life in ways that once seemed unimaginable, really grabbing the attention of the public whether they’re passing by or across the street, while bringing perhaps the safest and most tailored, customer centric experience to any retail store found in Hamburg or beyond.”
