Xante sees 20% growth despite Covid-19 impact

Speciality printing systems developer Xante has reported a 20% year-on-year rise in sales during the fourth quarter, despite the ongoing impact of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Xante saw sales for its X-16, X-32 and X-33 UV flatbed signage products were up 40%

Xante says this growth was primarily due to a 40% increase in sales of its X-16, X-32, and X-33 UV flatbed signage products.

The X-33, X-32 and X-16 printers, which allow printing on substrates up to 24” x 36” and up to 11.75” thick, and Xante president and chief executive Robert Ross says demand for signage work helped with sales of the devices.

“Our customers needed new solutions that would keep their commercial print operations afloat even through they were seeing a significant drop in traditional print, many as much as 70%; he expanding signage business was their answer,” Ross explains.

Mark Priede, vice president of global sales and marketing and Xante, also picked up on this point, saying without usual tradeshows and in-person events, the firm turned to online and virtual events to reach customers around the world.

Priede says: “Xante immediately switched to virtual roadshows, showcasing our printers online to interested customers around the world.

“We were very impressed with the results from this strategy and, in fact, had to increase the number of sessions to accommodate extra guests.”

Ross adds that demand for signage printers and similar products is only set to rise in 2021 and beyond, as more companies turn to this sort of work to bring in new business.

Ross says: “Our growth demonstrates a transformation in our industry and very well could be the new normal.

“Growth in commercial print is possible if you adapt; our industry is changing and commercial printers must quickly change with it.

“Traditional print decreased significantly in 2020, it's either evolve or struggle. We are focusing on technologies for this new normal.”
