Signs Express Norwich received funding from several organisations to invest in a Tekcel 4 x 2m flatbed CNC router

Signs Express Norwich has now installed a Tekcel 4 x 2m flatbed CNC router, which was funded by HSBC, New Anglia Growth Hub, Suffolk County Council, the European Regional Development Fund, the Small Grant Scheme, and Complete CNC Solutions.

It is the first installation part of a plan to update the production centre and over £85k has been invested so far. Signs Express Norwich has also boosted its team and has recruited new members of staff.

We have provided a consistent service with previous equipment but as technology progresses, we came to a point where an upgrade was required

Ken Venables, owner of the Norwich branch, comments: “We have provided a consistent service with previous equipment but as technology progresses, we came to a point where an upgrade was required. We opted for a larger equipment solution, choosing the four-metre-long bed option over a three metre, as the additional length will give us far more flexibility and capacity, improving productivity.”

After celebrating 25 years in the industry in 2014, the production centre is being upgraded, despite being the starting point of the now-expansive Signs Express franchise. The Norwich site also boasts a Rolls Roller machine which means that large-format graphics can be produced in-house with a quick turnaround.
