The club will install a new player memorial feature inside its famous Shed End stand, with this to pay tribute to former players who have sadly passed on.

The first player to be commemorated on the new installation will be legendry goalkeeper Peter Bonetti, who died earlier this year at the age of 78 after a long-term battle with illness.

Bonetti made seven appearances for the English national side and was part of the squad that won the Fifa World Cup in 1966.

Aside from the memorial wall, Chelsea will also be carrying out a major redesign of certain entry and exit points at its Stamford Bridge home stadium.

This project will include swapping player names for improved directional and wayfinding stadium signage, with the aim of assisting in the flow of supporters inside the stadium when fans are permitted to return.

All sports events in the UK are currently being played behind closed doors due to government-ordered regulations related to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

Chelsea endured a somewhat mixed season during the 2019-20 campaign, with the team finishing fourth and securing Uefa Champions League football for the 2020-21 season, but losing to London rival Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
