The Bees have raised over £15,000 for the Manchester Red Cross appeal

A suicide bomber set off his device shortly after a concert by US pop star Ariana Grande, leaving 22 people dead and scores more injured. Many charity efforts have taken place to help raise funds for the victims and their families.

Millie Fraser, a West Yorkshire student, also decided to help and came up with the idea of making Bee pin badges, representing the famous bee symbol of the city of Manchester. The project was initially focused on her school but gathered pace, with many more requests for badges.

Perspex Distribution have been happy to supply more yellow Perspex acrylic to the campaign too as the team try to keep up with demand

Laser cutting machine supplier HPC Laser offered to cut a new batch of 5,000 badges, created using Perspex acrylic material. As a result, more than £15,000 has been raised for the initiative, although this figure is likely to rise as more people purchase badges.

In a statement, Perspex says: “We recently spoke to Kim, who had a lined up dedicated team of 40 family and friends to help make a fresh batch of badges to keep up with the extraordinary demand as their campaign continues to grow on social media.

“Perspex Distribution have been happy to supply more yellow Perspex acrylic to the campaign too as the team try to keep up with demand as they have high hopes to double their fundraising total in the near future.”
