The Brit Awards 2018 celebrated artists such as Stormzy and Dua Lipa, who won two accolades each for Best British Male and Best Album, and Best British Female and Breakthrough. Ed Sheeran was also celebrated as he won the Global Success Award. Celebrities, footballers and artists graced the stage to present and accept awards, as well as perform. However, the stage deserved its own recognition, as 3M provided the finishing touches to the design.
Misty Buckly Production Design was behind the creation, using Di-Noc architectural finishes from 3M. The prism 3D designs looked as if they were solid shapes made from metal but were actually made from a steel structure with hard cladding, made from an aluminium composite, and then covered with the range from 3M.

He adds: “The Di-Noc range of architectural finishes by 3M allowed us to achieve an outstanding look that really brought our whole design together. The 3M materials responded incredibly well to projection, giving a texture and depth not seen before in conventional projection materials.”
The structure was created using 23 laser projectors, which mapped out the structure, which stood at 15m tall and 59m wide. The materials from the Di-Noc range used were the AM-1697, AM-1702, ME-1434, VM-306, PA-039, ME-379, ME-377, and mirror films, also from 3M.
Pen Webley, marketing team leader for the 3M Commercial Solutions division, comments: “We were honoured to have played a part in helping to create Misty Buckley’s fantastic stage. The end result shows that with the Di-Noc range of architectural finishes by 3M, the only limit is your own creativity.”
Misty Buckley’s design was inspired by origami, and each formation had names like Iceberg, Moving Mountain, Peace Crane, and Shard.
