BrightSign powers interactive perfume experience

Digital signage media players specialist BrightSign recently joined forces with Rituals to produce an interactive perfume display at the brand’s new flagship store in Amsterdam.

Dutch audio-visual company First Impression selected BrightSign players to power the project, using the technology to control an innovative scent display.

Once a customer selects a perfume on an iPad, an LED light underneath the bottle lights up. If the customer then picks up the glass pipette from the perfume bottle, a video plays describing the perfume.

In addition, a fully custom skin around the BrightSign players allows customers to interact with the iPads.

Menno Huizinga, senior solutions architect at First Impression, comments: “First Impression was invited into the project to explore how audio-visual technology could strengthen the brand experience and showcase the store’s perfume range.

“The result is an interactive lab where customers can try out Rituals products, delivering data that the brand can respond to.

“A key point of anxiety in digital displays has been the time and effort lost in technical glitches, however the reliability of BrightSign players has been invaluable in providing an immersive, professional and very stable scent showcase.”

Jeff Hastings, chief executive of BrightSign, adds: “One of the key concepts of the experience store was to start selling perfumes, and Rituals wanted to secure a foothold in this market in a very creative way.

“We’re pleased to help them achieve this goal with a memorable and reliable display at the flagship store.”
