Hospital trust gets digital signage rollout

Digital signage is helping County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust improve efficiency and reduce management.

Hibox Systems provides digital signage services to the hospitality and healthcare industries as well as providing centralised management services for the entire TV service.

The Trust chose Hibox Systems’ multiscreen content management system called Smartroom Health for three of its hospitals.

The Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of North Durham and Bishop Auckland Hospital will all benefit from the system.

Nigel Hauxwell, IT manager at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, which is one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in England, says the installation went smoothly.

With Smartroom Health, our hospitals can create an exceptional patient experience by providing visual information and content on more than 40 digital signage screens and door displays

He says: “With Smartroom Health, our hospitals can create an exceptional patient experience by providing visual information and content on more than 40 digital signage screens and door displays.

“We can now control display screens from just one server, getting maximum value from our IT budget.”

According to Hauxwell, the hospitals utilise screens in public areas to provide real-time information to patients, visitors and staff such as waiting times, news general messages and café menus.

This is the first installation that Hibox Systems has completed for the NHS, and Staffan Granholm, chief executive officer of the company says he is delighted with the outcome.

He adds: “We are confident this will be followed by many more, as it has in the Nordics where Smartroom Health is becoming the de facto standard for large hospitals.”
