Philips helping drive Covid-19 recovery

Philips Professional Display Solutions (PPDS) has offered a lifeline to companies around the world, helping them welcome staff back to the office in a safe way.

The company’s PeopleCount solution is designed to automatically monitor and manage capacity in office environments, meaning staff footfall is monitored and controlled in line with novel coronavirus (Covid-19) measures.

The intelligent Bosch camera and PPDS display technology system has already been put to place in a number of offices, including Dutch accounting firm Acar Accountants and Adviseurs.

Acar is first corporate business to install the new system, with visitors entering its three-floor offices greeted with a 32” Philips display at the main entrance. This uses a live traffic light system to indicate whether it is safe to enter based on capacity readings.

Information is automatically generated using live data gathered from a ceiling-based smart Bosch IP camera, counting people in and out of the building throughout the day.

“Investment in technology, particularly in these tough economic times, may not seem a desirable approach for everyone,” Acar chief executive Isa Acar says.

“However, with the price of PeopleCount comparable to just one month’s salary of a security guard, this has very much been money well spent. The trust and safety of everyone is paramount.”
