SDi sees demand spike for hygiene solutions

Point-of-sale (POS) and visual merchandising display specialist SDi has reported a surge in demand for its range of end-to-end hygiene products and services, amid the ongoing novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Loughborough-based SDi has been busy developing face guards for employees, pharmacy and checkout screens, and anti-bacterial wipes and sanitiser hand stations for use in locations across the UK.

To date, SDI has manufactures some 260,000 face guards, delivered more than 10,000 pharmacy and checkout screens to Boots and M&S, while 1,500 sanitiser hand stations are in production for Tesco, Dixons Carphone and other retailers.

In addition, SDi has agreed a deal with Addmaster to take on capability to embed Biomaster technology into all of its products, providing an extra ‘antimicrobial’ barrier to prevent bacteria and viruses growing on surfaces.

Matt Evans, retail sales director of SDi, comments: “Manufacturing lines were adapted to ensure we could provide a single-source solution from start to finish. We’re talking volumes in the tens of thousands, maybe eventually hundreds of thousands.”
