The new 3DGD-1800 hopes to facilitate large-scale production, which Mimaki says will be up to three times faster than conventional Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 3D printers. It boasts the ability to produce objects up to 1.8m tall in just seven hours thanks to cost and time saving measures, such as a dual-head configuration.

New opportunities can include life-sized displays, event decorations, movie props, large product mock-ups ad more. Sign-makers and printers can now help in the production of industrial parts such as moulds for vacuum forming, helping manufacturers to reduce their own lead times.

The new 3DGD-1800 will be available from the start of April and utilises 3D data, which means that designs can be seen as finished product based on the data and created in different sizes from this single set of data. The machine also boasts Gel Dispensing Printing technology, which is a gel-type UV curable resin. This means it is instantly cured while enabling lamination speeds of up to 350mm in height per hour.
