Helping to share crucial public health information

As the coronavirus spread continues globally, the out-of-home (OOH) community is helping to keep people informed.

The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide public-health announcements across the US.

There are currently 221,290 confirmed cases in the world and 7,000 confirmed cases in the US.

Recognising the effectiveness of billboards and other OOH platforms to reach a wide and diverse audience, the OOH community is pulling together to do what it can to control and reduce the spread of the novel disease.

While details vary from country to country, the wide-spread Government advice is to wash your hands, maintain social distancing and stay at home when feeling unwell.

The idea is to get important public health messages to a wide and diverse

To help get these important messages to the most people as possible, the OAAA has worked with CDC to create informative templates which can be downloaded for free and broadcast across OOH screens nationwide.

The OAAA says: “Thousands of digital OOH units across the country are asking Americans to be diligent in washing their hands, staying home when ill, and to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth.

“Together with the CDC, the OOH industry is delivering unified messaging and supporting public-information goals set by health professionals. OAAA will continue to take direction from the CDC in the event messaging should change.”
