According to the National House-Building Council (NHBC), the number of new homes registered to be built each year in the UK has risen by more than 80% over the last decade. This increase means a total of 1.4 million new homes are built across the UK every year.

With the build of housing comes the need to sell and promote the new developments, and this is where building hoardings come into play.

The purpose of hoardings is to mask unsightly building sites and can be printed with a large area of promotional information and images to market the development before it has been built.

Wrights Plastics recently invested in the Océ Arizona 6170 which is described as a “productivity powerhouse” and as a result it can now achieve faster jobs, more productivity and can work on a wider range of materials.

The firm’s latest job was for Midland’s New Homes builder, Sidley Piper Homes. Putting the printer’s capability for speed to the test, Wrights was able to produce a total of 67 panels of hoarding in just 16 hours.

This was achieved through the Arizona’s ‘Express’ mode which can print panels at speeds of up to 155sq m per hour with no loss of print quality.

Describing the project, Wrights Plastics says: “We used hoarding grade ACM to reflect the quality of the development in Polesworth village, Staffordshire.

"Our additional value-added services included manipulation of artwork files to create useable artwork files for printing panels that featured photography, logos, text and included statutory Health and Safety information.”
