Celebrating a decade of growth

In November 2009, Astley moved into a custom-built space designed to ensure its strategic growth plans could be achieved. Ten years on and the company is celebrating its continuing attainment of this vision.

Since the signs and graphics firm moved into the specially designed 62,000sq ft headquarters in Team Valley, Gateshead, it has grown to see its workforce increase by 30% with 126 people now employed at the site.

Gavin Redhead, commercial director at Astley comments: “When we moved into our custom-built facility on Team Valley, which was designed specifically to ensure our business objectives could be achieved, it was with a clear strategic ambition – to grow and establish Astley as a leading manufacturer within the sign industry.

“As we reflect on the decade since our relocation, there’s no doubt we’ve achieved that. We’re proud to say our workforce has increased by around 30% at this site, which includes the recruitment of apprentices who we have been able to support with bespoke training.”

It’s only when we sit back and analyse the past ten years that we realise just how much we’ve achieved. The challenge now is to build upon these achievements and continue to grow as a business...

In addition to its Team Valley site, Astley also operates from three further sites around the UK including a creative facility in Kettering, Northamptonshire.

Over the years, Astley has received a collection of accolades, including four wins at the British Sign and Graphics Awards. Next year, the company’s three directors will celebrate 30 years since its management buyout.

Redhead adds: “It’s only when we sit back and analyse the past ten years that we realise just how much we’ve achieved. The challenge now is to build upon these achievements and continue to grow as a business, adding to our client portfolio, investing in the new, industry leading machinery and equipment and recruiting both experience and young talent who share our vision for success.”
