A spooky affair at The Neon Museum

A popular assortment of neon signs is about to get a spooky revamp as Las Vegas’ Neon Museum gears up for the opening of its Tim Burton-inspired exhibition.

Sponsored by the Engelstad Foundation, ‘Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum’ is described as a “landmark, large-scale exhibition”.

Opening October 15th and running through to February 15th, 2020 the event will mark the first time in almost ten years the American film director, writer, artist and animator has produced an exhibition of his fine art in the US.

Visitors to the display will experience a collection of sculptural and digital installations celebrating Burton’s link to Las Vegas’ neon history.

The artwork will play with the museum’s existing sign collection and will feature many site-specific creations.

Rob McCoy, president and chief executive officer of The Neon Museum, thanks the Engelstad Foundation for its donation of $250,000 (£203,000) to fund a substantial portion of the costs needed to bring the exhibition to life.

McCoy says: “We are immensely grateful to the Engelstad Foundation for this generous demonstration of support of the most exciting art exhibitions ever to be staged in Las Vegas.”

The Neon Museum first opened its doors in 1996 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs.
