Escaping the dark side

The launch of Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ newest themed land at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California was made an immersive experience by Panasonic.

Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America has announced the part it had to play in the launch by providing its projection technology.

The technology is the Official Projection Technology of both resorts and was used in the development of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

John Baisley, senior vice president of Professional Imaging & Visual Systems for Panasonic Systems Company of North America comments: “From the initial stages of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’s development, Disney set out to completely immerse guests in the world of Star Wars.

Our collaboration helped Disney bring the incredible attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run to life, so that guests can experience the universe of Star Wars in a whole new way

“Our collaboration helped Disney bring the incredible attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run to life, so that guests can experience the universe of Star Wars in a whole new way.”

Described as the largest and most technologically advanced project undertaken by Disney, the Star Wars land allows visitors to enter the remote planet of Batuu and enjoy local food and beverages, as well as build their own lightsabre in Savi’s workshop.

Paul Bailey, principal show systems engineer at Walt Disney Imagineering adds: “With Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, we are inviting our guests on an adventure that they’ve only ever imagined before. Working with Panasonic helped us reach new technological heights for this amazing attraction.
