Providing a modern twist

When Des Moines Art Center decided to upgrade its curtains to give the art gallery a more modern feel, it wanted to achieve natural light without losing the privacy of the room or distracting from the artwork within the building.

Not certain of the best option, the Iowa-based art gallery turned to Sinclair Graphics & Installations for advice.

Taking into consideration the requirements of the upgrade, Anthony Sinclair recommended window films. Sinclair explains: “Window films, when compared to alternative options such as shades or curtains, offer a visually pleasing way to add privacy without blocking out light.

“And when you factor in how easy films are to install and maintain, they became the obvious choice for this application.”

Taking Sinclair’s advice on board, the gallery opted for Mactac’s IMAGin B-free frosted window film – a 3.1mm translucent, matte-frosted polymeric PVC film. The window film is coated on one side with a micro-structured, repositionable permanent clear acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive.

According to Sinclair Graphics & Installations, this particular film is known being easy to apply quickly and seamlessly, without any wrinkles or bubbles.

Reflecting on the chosen medium, Sinclair adds: “Working with Mactac’s B-free Frosted Window Film is easy. The film’s repositionable adhesive allows installers to push out bubbles that occur during application – creating a smooth, finished look.”
