Welcome to the house of Pongs

After Printroom made the decision to move away from a range of different suppliers and become a ‘house of Pongs’, the firm says it has not looked back.

Around 18 months ago, the Irish graphic design and print-services-provider began solely using Pongs materials for its digital textile output which it purchases through CMYUK.

According to Stephen Hudson, Printroom’s founder, it is the competitive price and quality of the material itself that led the firm to make the decision.

Joel Willcock, key accounts and textile business development at CMYUK explains: “I met with Stephen at FESPA 2016 and we have partnered ever since. In the proceeding years we have supported and consulted on applications/work.

“I visit Printroom every quarter to keep Stephen up to date on new material and innovations and make sure all is running as it should.”

CMYUK has been great from the start. Their knowledge of substrates and advice has been imperative in the growth of our textile range

The five-year-old company began with the production of exhibition pop-up units and posters and banners.
Having first began working with Hudson three years ago, CMYUK suggested the company bought into digital textiles.

Identifying room for niche products such as full-colour lanyards, Hudson invested in a 2.2m wide direct-to-textile printer in 2016 and became one of only a few printers in Ireland producing such services.

Hudson comments: “CMYUK has been great from the start. Their knowledge of substrates and advice has been imperative in the growth of our textile range. We have been steered by Joel and the team as to what products are best suited for our needs.”

As well as becoming a ‘house of Pongs’, Printroom installed a 3.2m wide machine this year on which it now produces fabric zipper walls, printed tablecloths and teardrop banners.
