UK cities are served Wimbledon through DOOH

Wimbledon is one of the biggest sporting events of the year with TV Licencing revealing that over half of the UK (51%) tuned in to watch last year’s final.

The 2019 tournament, which began on Monday, is to be broadcast by Ocean Outdoor as it brings the competition from the courts to out-of-home screens across the UK.

As the Official Car Partner of Wimbledon and the broadcast sponsor of Ocean Outdoor’s coverage of the tennis tournament, Jaguar, will provide daily highlights and live scores to tennis fans across the country.

Every six minutes, 28 large-format digital screens will play a 60” sponsored show real in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham.

As well as displaying the latest updates via the digital screens, Westfield’s London and Stratford shopping centres will also feature a fan zone and an experiential zone respectively.

This is a ground-breaking initiative for out-of-home and the largest content-based sponsorship deal since the introduction of live sports streaming on our full motion outdoor network

The content distribution campaign is the result of a collaboration between creative agency, Spark 44; out-of-home and location marketing specialist, Posterscope; Ocean Outdoor, and dentsu X.

Kristina Mestsaninova, managing partner of dentsu X – the firm behind the planning of the project – says: “The primary objective from the client’s brief was to make Wimbledon live beyond the SW19 postcode, making it unmissable that Jaguar sponsors the tournament.

“We set out to build a truly integrated campaign that brought together and made the most of the entire ecosystem of owned, earned and paid elements.”

Ocean head of content and sponsorship, Kevin Henry adds: “This is a ground-breaking initiative for out-of-home and the largest content-based sponsorship deal since the introduction of live sports streaming on our full motion outdoor network.”
