Augmented reality app increases sales potential

Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience which merges the real world with computer-generated images and information.

The print and sign industries are constantly experimenting with the possibilities of AR in marketing campaigns as well as to showcase products and services.

Touch sensor display firm Zytronic created a quirky digital kitchen experience, whilst packaging and label supplier BOBST used AR to enhance its helpline service.

Software company SAi has created a new product using AR which has the potential to increase efficiency and reduce time wasted perfecting designs.

VirtualSign is SAi’s new AR app which allows users to create a virtual representation of how signs will look in place in the real world when installed.

Not only does VirtualSign allow users to visualise signs in real life, but they can also capture and send images directly from the app

According to the Salt Lake City firm, the idea behind the app is to give sign and display makers the ability to “secure the go-ahead” for projects faster and to increase production throughput due to an enhanced buying process and improved customer interaction.

In a statement the company says: “Not only does VirtualSign allow users to visualise signs in real life, but they can also capture and send images directly from the app, making it easier than ever to share creative ideas.”

The app is now available to download on iTunes and Google Play and is available at no extra cost to SAi Flexi subscribers.
