Sun Chemical commended for excellence

Sun Chemical has been awarded a Jury Commendation from the British Quality Foundation for the UK Excellence Award for ‘Managing with Agility’.

The UK Excellence Awards recognise organisations which have demonstrated excellence across all areas of business operation.

Sun Chemical was first assessed in 2014 and achieved a four-star rating. Following its reassessment in November 2018, the firm was given a five-star rating and was shortlisted for the UK Excellence Award.

Greg Hayes, group managing director, Northern Europe, Sun Chemical, comments: “Utilising our business improvement skills in partnership with our customers has added tremendous value to customer relationships.

“The recognition of this by the British Quality Foundation in being shortlisted through such a rigorous process with other great companies is a great honour and a tremendous credit to the teams involved.”

The inks and pigments firm was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Excellence in Collaboration Award in recognition of its work with Saica Flex in Buxton.

Sun Chemical adapted a partnership approach with the recycled paper manufacturer and helped to implement a project to insource more of its products as well as improving its capacity and production speeds.

Thanks to the partnership, Saica improved its processes to become more efficient, and Sun Chemical increased sales.

Another name from the print industry that was recognised was Ricoh, which was given the Jury Recommendation for the Excellence in Collaboration Award.

The commendations were awarded at the British Quality Foundation Awards dinner on May 16th at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
