Safety first for Mackwell and Techsil

LED lighting manufacturers Mackwell Electronics has singled out Techsil for special praise after the consumables expert assisted with a recent project.

Mackwell met with Techsil to discuss options for the project, which involved sealing a clear plastic lens in an emergency luminaire housing.

After several in-house trials for the project, Techsil prescribed Momentive’s Snapsil TN3005-C, a clear one-part, low volatile siloxane, thixotropic silicone sealant with a fast tack-free time. Bonded units also were sent away for testing and passed with ease.

Techsil also liaised with Mackwell’s engineering department for a dispensing system and eventually opted for Nordson Performus III, an operator-controlled benchtop system that is used with an electric foot pedal.

This dispensing system has increased throughput, improved yields and reduced production costs overall

“The Performus dispenser can handle all assembly fluids; with fast, controlled application it can make dots, beads and fills,” Techsil says in a statement, adding: “Mackwell now have this system in operation and will adapt it further to complete a variety of other in-house bonding applications.

“This dispensing system has increased throughput, improved yields and reduced production costs overall.

“Snapsil TN3005-C has proved to be a high performance material that stood up to rigorous testing and will last for the life of the product. Being a one-part material there is no mixing and no primer needed, making it very easy to use.”
