Video banners boost sales at stadium

The installation of video banners at concession stands has increased traffic and revenue for New York baseball park, Yankee Stadium.

The video banners are the second installation by signage firm Visual Graphic Systems, which previously completed the installation of its 650 Visual Graphic Systems Simplicity digital menu boards at the park.

The new digital menu boards were found by the concession operator Legends for Yankee Stadium to help increase sales by 10% by pulling consumer focus onto specific items.

The new wall-to-wall display of contiguous 55” monitors have been designed to feature video and imagery chosen by stadium staff to showcase food offerings, merchandise, promotions and other branded content.

Describing the signage, Visual Graphic Systems says: “The height, size, and vibrancy of the displays grab attention even from a distance, enabling visitors to spot concession stands and understand product offerings from a much greater distance, even in crowded conditions, and stimulate their appetites with compelling visual content.”

The stadium noticed that just by putting the video displays up, they attracted more clients to those stands

The video and image content can be conveniently controlled by staff members via internet connection or handheld tablet, making it possible to walk past and change the visual effects on the spot.

Following a test installation, Visual Graphic Systems found that the video banners were successful in attracting more customers to the concession stands. “The stadium noticed that just by putting the video displays up, they attracted more clients to those stands,” explains Frank Alvy, director of digital at Visual Graphic Systems.

Due to the success of the trial, video banners are now to be installed at every concession stand, making a total of 196 banner displays across both levels of the stadium.
