Chadwicks delivers lids for new frozen cocktails

Heat seal pre-cut lids manufacturer Chadwicks has created a set of lids for frozen cocktail brand LIC.

The firm produced various designs for the 46mm aluminium foil lids for the alcoholic frozen cocktail range from British company LIC, which created the world’s fully frozen cocktail, equivalent to an alcoholic drink. The new flavours to the range include Grey Goose vodka and Bombay Sapphire gin.

The lids, printed in one and two-colour UV flexo, are designed to provide an easy peel and secure seal for the new cocktails that join the existing range of mojito and piña colada frozen cocktails.

Paul Whelan, technical manager for lids at Chadwicks, explains: “The cocktails are frozen in paper PE tubs which, with their very narrow rolled rim, are difficult to seal and then open. Chadwicks’ aluminium PE co-ex material is ideally suited to this type of application as the sealing layer is 30gsm of modified PE which not only provides a 100 percent seal it also remains peelable.”

Harry Stimpson, founder of LIC, adds: “We are delighted with the design and quality of the lids. Chadwicks can always be relied upon for their friendly customer service and technical expertise.”

Now part of the Clondalkin Group, Chadwicks has over 70 years’ experience in the flexible packaging industry. The firm started out creating foil tops for bottles of milk back in the 1930s and is a leading producer of pre-cut lids and shrink sleeve packaging solutions.
