Apprenticeship course set for September

If you know of anyone who wishes to attend a training course as an introduction to the industry, ensure they are aware of a course this September.

Entitled Make It Happen, and in collaboration with the trade organisation The British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA) the course will feature a range of skills and an insight into understanding product specifications, labour processes, technical requirements and the creative skills that go into creating a sign. There will also be sections on new products, techniques and solutions to assist staff with design ideas and a more consultative approach to selling.

The course will also cover typography and lettering, fixtures and fittings, the emerging skills in the world of LED signs, plus lightboxes and how they work. Panels, built up letters, totems, engraving and wide format printing will all be covered to give an understanding of this exciting and increasingly creative and high tech industry.

Based at SignFab (UK) in Leicester the course has previously received high praise from the biggest names in the industry. Full details and dates are to be finalised but in the first instance contact Sam Armstrong on sam@makeih.co.uk or call 07595 071288.

With only one dedicated sign-making college course in the UK in Walsall should more colleges run full and part-time courses for the industry? Email your thoughts to harry@linkpublishing.co.uk or call me on Tel: 0117 9805 040 – or follow me on Twitter and join in the debate.
