HP sets out growth strategy with new launches

HP has revealed plans to further support print service providers (PSPs) around the world by rolling out a number of new print technologies at the FESPA Global Print Expo 2018.

The manufacturer unveiled its new DesignJet Z Printer series for large-format photo prints, and also handed a debut to its new Latex R2000 Printer, which it has billed as the first hybrid solution for rigid and flexible sign and display printing in one device.

HP says the DesignJet Z6 and Z9+ Printer series has been specifically designed to enhance printing performance for photo output. Features on the new technology include HP Pixel Control to help users achieve true-to-colour prints, as well as dual drop technology that HP says allows customers to produce prints with clear details and high-contrast colour.

Another key factor on the DesignJet Z Printer series is both indoor and outdoor durability, with the HP Vivid Photo Inks providing water-resistant, fade-resistant prints for long-term indoor display and, when printed on water-resistant media, for outdoor display.

Guayente Sanmartin, general manager and global head, large-format design printing at HP, says: “The new DesignJet Z Printer series radically enhances the customer experience and reinvents printing possibilities for both professional photo and signage to ignite business growth and adapt to future needs.

We thoughtfully designed the new printers to deliver impressive photo quality without compromising time resources and output speeds with the new vertical trimmer and innovative colour technologies

Meanwhile, the new HP Latex R2000 Printer can accommodate materials up to 2.5m wide and as thick as 5cm. Commercially available from this month, the machine has a top speed of 88sq m/hr and can handle rolls weighing up to 100kg.

HP first announced the new technology at the ISA Sign Expo back in March, but the FESPA Global Print Expo 2018 gave visitors the opportunity to see the kit up close.

Joan Pérez Pericot, general manager, large-format graphics business at HP, says: “Anyone who tracks this industry knows today is a major milestone in printing as we unveil the HP Latex R2000 Printer.

“HP developed this breakthrough technology based on PSPs continued request for an HP Latex printer to print on both rigid and flexible materials using our water-based inks. This introduction is another step forward in how HP creates the best experiences for our customers, continually reinventing the possibilities of print.”
