CSL joins UV revolution

The increasing popularity of UV ink technology in the sign and print industries is very apparent from looking at different manufacturers. With this in mind, CSL Digital has announced the availability of Durauv 1600, a new UV LED inkjet printer based on the Roland Versa Art RF-640.

While UV ink technology used to be associated with high-end, high-production printers, the more recent arrival of UV LED light curing technologies has brought it into the mainstream at a more affordable price.

Justin Atkinson, technical director, says: “The main advantages of UV inks over other inks are well documented. UV ink technology offers instant curing and good durability whereas other ink formulations can require additional time for drying and/or outgassing.

“As no heat is involved in the UV curing process, the integrity of the roll media remains unaffected. This means that the Durauv 1600 will offer owners the potential to print on a much wider range of materials.”
