Bow Design in the big leagues with Roland DG

Bow Design has revealed how its new Roland DG TrueVIS VG-640 has allowed it to take on some of the biggest companies in the UK as clients.

Matthew Anderson, owner of the Swansea-based firm, purchased the machine after seeing it in action at a Creative Centre Experience Day at Roland DG UK's headquarters in Clevedon.

Anderson only bought the company in September of last year, but has already set about his plans to grow the business, first rebranding it as Bow Design and now taking on the Roland DG device.

“We had a 14-year-old Roland VersaCAMM SP-540—which is still going strong—plus a laminator and a CNC router, but I wanted to go after large accounts; a contract with one of the UK's biggest retailers depended on upgrading our printing capacity,” Anderson says.

Supplied by Roland DG reseller printMAX, the VersaCAMM SP-540 is also capable of cutting materials, and Anderson has been using this option to carry out sticker work for customers.

You know what you’re getting with Roland, and that's a quality machine

Anderson explains: “The week before the TrueVIS was installed I printed 100 stickers on our older machine in 39 minutes. A week later, on the new TrueVIS, I printed 100 stickers in nine minutes.

“We now have two operational Roland machines, running all day every day, and I've calculated production has increased by 72 percent.”

He adds: “The TrueVIS VG-640’s speed and quality are great and the RIP is almost identical to the VersaCAMM’s so I knew it would be easy to use. You know what you’re getting with Roland, and that's a quality machine.”
