Nova to support growth in textile graphics

Nova Aluminium Systems has announced details of two products that it says will help companies looking to take advantage of the increasing amount of work on offer in the textile graphics market.

Nova Tex and Nova Edge are both available from the company, and can be used in combination to offer customers an attractive and effective solution.

“It’s no surprise that textile visuals are now commonplace in store,” Nova says in a statement, adding: “The stunning images achieved with today’s modern printers are quite frankly an advertiser’s dream.”

LED illumination adds to the vibrant look and the fact that the promotion can be changed in-store with ease just adds to the popularity.

Nova explains that textile skins can be housed in aluminium boxes or frames from the NovaTex range of profiles and tensioned using a passive wedge known as the ‘silicone edge’.

However, Nova recognised that as most silicone edges are attached to the textile perimeter by use of a sewing machine stitching the silicone securely in place, and this has to be done after the skin has been printed, it can limit a sign-maker that may be able to print the textile, but unable to stitch the silicone edge in position.

According to Nova, Nova Edge has the answer: “Available in 10m rolls, the Nova Edge silicone strip has a double-sided tape applied to one side and is suitable to be used with all printed textile materials.

“Applying the strip to the printed material by hand is simple, then, to give the adhesive an equal spread Nova Edge needs to be rolled such as a wallpaper roller giving an initial 70 percent bond. There is then a curing period of four hours to achieve maximum bind.”
