Quinn meets Her Majesty The Queen

It was already an exciting time for designer Richard Quinn, who was watching his creations on the catwalk at London Fashion Week (LFW). Then the event was made even more special by Her Majesty The Queen, who was present at her first LFW show and was sat in the front row.

Quinn, who creates his designs in his own studio using Epson digital printers, including an Epson Sure Color SC-F9200 digital dye-sublimation printer, has received the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.

His designs have been highlighted by H and M and he has been pinpointed as the one to watch over the next few years. Quinn’s clothing will soon hit stores across the UK when he launches a collection with Debenhams, and he is already giving back to the community, by letting students and other emerging designers use his studio.

The show flaunted the floral and vibrant designs that have become associated with the Peckham-based designer, and even included helmets with his designs that were wrapped by Slam Signs (which also used Epson technology).

“Thank you believing in my vision of the studio,” says Quinn to Epson, and continues: “The constant dialogue and passion for development really excites me and educates me and my team each season.”

Mixing real royalty with fashion royalty saw US Vogue editor, Dame Anna Wintour, perched next to HM The Queen in the front row, along with Caroline Rush CBE, chief executive officer of the British Fashion Council.

Heather Kendle, market development manager of Epson Europe, adds: “It’s really inspiring to see how Richard explores the power of Epson digital printing and we are extremely proud to be working with him. This award is a great accolade and recognises Richard and his team’s dedication, creativity, and hard work.”

Quinn is sure to continue taking the fashion world by storm, having graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA and an MA. Last year, Quinn was also presented with an H and M Design Award for his work.
