Innova promote ‘safety first’

When a fire breaks out in a building, smoke will fill a room or corridor from the roof downwards, often obliterating mains-powered emergency lighting.

And it is with this critical issue in mind that Innova has developed its Photoluminescent Safety Way Guidance System (SWGS).

When a fire breaks out evacuees often have to crawl to try reduce smoke inhalation, and the system from Innova that includes egress strips, as well as signage and floor-markers at low-location remain visible even in smoke-filled environments.

In a statement on the issue, Innova writes: “Recent fire-related tragedies have highlighted the unfortunate reality that many buildings are insufficiently prepared for such incidents, with little or no legible way finding media to assist timely and easy escape from fire and smoke which can spread all too quickly.

“A properly fitted Photoluminescent SWGS has been proven to aid egress by occupants and the extended afterglow has also improved evacuation of the building by fire and rescue services by as much as 30 percent.”
