Flexibility is king says family firm

It may be a competitive market out there, but a father and son team at Signs Express Preston says that the way to be successful in the industry is to have the ability to take on work of any size.

Stephen and Ben Hall run the Lancashire-based branch, and over the last year have grown the sign outfit into a £800,000 turnover business. Ben Hall explains: “It’s a very competitive market out there, but the advantage we have is being able to take on work of all sizes and to successfully project manage them.

“Our design department is using the latest software to create powerful messages. We pride ourselves that we are more than just a sign company. We’ve got graphics and fabrication workshops that are also equipped with the latest technology. It means we can produce all aspects of sign work, including illuminated, tactile, and braille signs.”

The branch has recently installed three special wraps on lifts at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to promote blood and transplantation services. Patients, staff, and visitors will now see the importance of organ donation, with facts surrounding the process at one of the hospital’s Signs Express worked with, Sharoe Green Lane Hospital in Fulwood.

Another hospital to benefit was the Royal Preston Hospital. Senior estates manager at the hospital, Paul Collier, says: “Signs Express has been a supplier of signage to the Trust for a number of years now. Their expertise in understanding the needs of both the Trust and NHS is invaluable to us as an estates department.

“Both their office staff and installers are pleasant and professional when undertaking work and are aware of the needs of both the patients and staff when working in clinical environments. Their response to urgent signage requirements is impressive and I would have no issue in recommending them.”

Ben Armstrong, specialist nurse for organ donation at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, adds: “A big thank you to Signs Express for making these lift wraps a reality. We have received very positive comments and all three lifts look amazing.”
