Let me take a Doro Tape selfie

Manchester based large-format print specialist Scan-Stick recently called on the help of Doro Tape UK to help with a major project for Manchester Metropolitan University an its popular end-of-year MA Show.

The Manchester School of Art, part of Manchester Metropolitan University, has built up a reputation for its quality of degrees in art, design, architecture and theatre, and aims to reflect this in its advertising and marketing campaigns.

With this in mind, creative studio DR-ME, the brainchild of two alumni of the art school, was given the challenge of producing the branding for the MA Show this year, and opted for something a little different. DR-ME approached Scan-Stick to see if it would be possible to feature metallic, silver and mirrored materials in the campaign.

Chris Scanlon from Scan-Stick takes up the story: “The Aslan SE75 Mirrored film from Doro Tape UK Ltd had always been in the back of my mind, waiting for the perfect deserving client.

The second the first mirrored window was finished the selfies started and this is now Manchester's new favourite selfie spot

“I was introduced to this product on Doro’s stand at Sign & Digital UK. When I held it up to my face the mirrored film, as titled, was exactly that! It gave a clear crisp reflection of my ugly mug, no rippling or blurring like other mirrored film on the market.”

The branding logo ‘This is it’ was printed onto clear film, cut out and applied to the SE75. This was then applied to two large windows at the front entrance to the Manchester School of Art’s main reception in the Benzie Building—which has since become a hot-spot for selfies.

Scanlon explains: “The second the first mirrored window was finished the selfies started and this is now Manchester's new favourite selfie spot.”
