Football side wrap up deal

One football team in the Czech Republic has shown an unusual dedication to their sponsors, as a celebration of their partnership.

FC Viktoria Plzen, who are in the Czech First League, have unveiled new dugouts with graphics that make them look like giant cans of beer, which is a tribute to their sponsors – a popular and local brewery called Gambrinus.

The graphics cover the dugouts, which have 14 seats for players, the manager, and other members of staff. These seats are leather and heated for when the football season ventures into the winter months.

Chairman of FC Viktoria, Adolf Sadek, comments: “These are quite unique and I dare to say there is no other club with them.”

Building the home and away seats at the Doosan Arena took two tonnes of metal  to create the giant beer cans, as well as 300sq m of aluminium. It also took four weeks to install the dugouts and alcohol-themed wraps.

To celebrate the installation of the new dugouts and beer graphics, some members of the club poured Gambrinus beer over the top of the ‘can’.

The top tier of Czech football has just kicked off again at the weekend, with Viktoria getting off to a good start with a win against Dukla Prague. The side hope to do one better than last year, where they finished as runners up to Slavia Prague.
