How smart are your windows?

The future of digital signage may just have been unveiled at a time when the technology segments percentage growth is now in double digits annually.

Once the idea of glass and screens that could interact with the user, or be activated by a touch seemed fantastical—today it is commonplace. But a new level of sophistication has been revealed for digital signage, with the first voice activated digital glass coming on stream.

Intelligent Glass revealed its first commercial project with its invention, which involved  a basic privacy application in a suburban home. This sort of technology is perfect for privacy screens, shower glass, or can even be used for windows. The switchable film is placed over existing windows, and can offer privacy from the outside world with a simple command.

The customer involved in the installation commented: “We were looking for a product to provide some extra privacy in our dining room, as we have large windows which face other properties. We had investigated other films (mirror and tinted) but none were suitable as they blocked too much light. I then found Switchable Smart Film from Intelligent Glass.

Being able to switch between clear and frosted in an instant means that we can have the view when want it, but also the privacy when required

“The team at Intelligent Glass were very helpful, explaining the benefits of the product and also providing advice about DIY fitting of the films to existing windows. Now we have the films installed, they are a great success. Installation was quite straight forward with easy to follow instructions. Being able to switch between clear and frosted in an instant means that we can have the view when want it, but also the privacy when required, without reducing the light in the room.”

The thin film may only be available to switch and provide cover, but in the future,  it will be developed to provide digital signage and information that will hang on your every word.
