HP and Summa form ‘strategic alliance’

In what is very significant news for the wide-format print technology manufacturing and supply sector, industry giants Summa and HP have announced a strategic alliance, pledging to develop print and cut solutions for the HP Latex series.

Summa, a global developer and manufacturer of cutting plotters, will lend its expertise and experience to HP in a bid to provide innovative solutions for HP Latex customers. 

This announcement will no doubt cause waves among the established wide-format print-and-cut brands, which until now could count on security from HP's ongoing expansion drive in this sector. A print-and-cut HP Latex system supported by a global brand such as Summa will significantly heighten the competitive stakes in wide-format inkjet.

Summa’s chief executive, Erwin Vandousselaere, comments: “We are pleased to work with HP in order to provide solutions to the market for customers, who need reliable cutting technology.

Xavier Garcia, general manager of the large-format printing division, HP, adds: “Our collaboration with Summa is a joint effort to provide the best technology for our HP Latex printing customers, who are in need of higher performance to support the increasing demand for innovative applications in this market.”
