Viscom Frankfurt builds on strong legacy

Viscom Frankfurt 2016 has closed its doors for another year with a mix of positive revues from exhibitors, but an admission from organisers that it had not beaten last year’s results.

The organisation has now released its final report on the event with comments from exhibitors and organisers alike.

In the report, Viscom highlights the story of Tobias Kuttner, a 46-year-old Berliner who produces high quality packaging, who managed to gain orders and inquiries from the food industry, the publishing sector, and Swiss jewellery manufacturers at the event. Many of the 307 exhibitors, from 29 nations, who came to the event have reported similar tales of success.

The report says: “Established 30 years ago as a meeting place for advertising, lighting and textile finishing, the exhibition has developed into a world-class event that combines the two worlds under the motto ‘we connect’ in the course of technological development in digital printing and the digital revolution in visual communication. With a total of 9,144 trade visitors, however, Viscom remained below the level of the previous event (10,064) due to the strong trade fair year with Drupa taking place every four years.”
I do not have to travel around the world, but can meet all the important contacts at the fair under one roof

Viscom director, Petra Lassahn, says: “Whether large-format, textile banner, POS display, high-quality print-enhanced packaging or virtual presentation of the product presentation - Viscom brings the advertising practices and the world of visual brand communication together under one roof impressively.”

For some, it was new technology that stood out. Ignaz van Goethem, managing director of Geneva AD Display Systems, explains: “Viscom is particularly impressive for its technical innovations. For me this year, machine innovations from the areas of laser cutting and text printing are the first priority.”

Viscom has also become an interesting place for interior design development. Sylvana Albayrak of Procédés Chénel, France, comments: “We had many advertising and communication agencies, shopfitters, decorators and designers at the stand and we are planning the ceiling design of two shops.”

Viscom has become an ideal place for people in the industry to get together, as one visitor to the event says: “As a representative of the printing industry, including digital and 3D printing, viscom is, for me, the networking platform for the industry. I do not have to travel around the world, but can meet all the important contacts at the fair under one roof.”

A visitor survey revealed that half of all the visitors to Viscom came to the event with concrete investment intentions.
