Biofuel buses get the 3M treatment

3M is making the delivery of a crucial environmental message that much easier, as one of its Select Platinum Partners, Lanarkshire-based vehicle graphics team OPG, has used non-PVC 3M films to wrap Stagecoach West Scotland Buses with special tree-themed graphics.

Stagecoach made the decision to invest in a concept involving floating green leaves, sending a strong message without obscuring passengers’ views. Envision films do not contain any PVC or added halogens, making them more eco-friendly when it comes to disposal. Bolstering the project’s environmental credentials further, OPG used solvent-free latex ink when printing the leaf graphics, before applying them to all nine of Stagecoach’s 100 percent biofuel vehicles.

When Stagecoach presented us with the design, we suggested taking the environmental theme further by printing the graphics on the latest Envision Print Wrap Film 48C, non-PVC vinyl film from 3M

Alan Watson, general manager at OPG, comments: “When Stagecoach presented us with the design, we suggested taking the environmental theme further by printing the graphics on the latest Envision Print Wrap Film 48C, non-PVC vinyl film from 3M. This is an intermediate film that combines enhanced sustainability with ideal performance at an economical price.

“Our applicators were already familiar with Envision Print Wrap Film 48C, and had quickly become proficient after only minimal training. Conformability is as good as with conventional intermediate films and the Comply Adhesive by 3M is known for its applicator-friendly properties.”
