Double award nomination for Allen Signs’ Jacobs

24-year-old Damian Jacobs of Allen Signs has been nominated for two awards—Young Sign Maker of the Year at the British Sign Awards and Employee of the Year at the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards.

Jacobs has progressed from an apprentice at Allen Signs to production manager in just six years, and completed his Sign Making Level 2 Apprenticeship course soon after joining the company, later becoming one of the first in the UK to complete level three.

“When he joined us as an apprentice aged 18, Damian instantly showed commitment and a desire to exceed our expectations,” says managing director of Allen Signs, David Allen.

He continues: “He has all of the abilities required to manage a team, leading by example to create a positive ‘can do’ environment where we all work together to ensure that the deadlines set are met.

“Often working long hours and managing difficult production and installation jobs, Damian always ensures everything runs to plan and does so with a smile on his face.

“He has been a fundamental part of the business’ growth over the last two years and has showed maturity by taking responsibility for the work scheduling and print management.”

Jacobs adds: “I am thrilled to have been shortlisted for two awards! I always try to do the best I can in my job and it is nice to see my hard work being recognised in this way.

“However, Allen Signs’ success is down the efforts of everyone in the team and I would like to thank my colleagues, particularly those in workshop, for their support over the last six years. I could not have progressed so quickly without their help and advice.”
