“It was fantastic for us to see so much interest in the new attraction. Our signs have taken centre stage in the resulting coverage and Drayton Manor’s design team has been hugely appreciative of our work. We’re very grateful to have been set the challenge of bringing the fun and colourful designs to life,” says Linda Aitchison, operations director, at Redbox.

The entire project started with a creative sketch, but Drayton Manor were so impressed by Redbox’ previous work that they signed off the project and embraced its wacky vision.

Aitchison continues: “While the end result for us has been a quirky and light-hearted sign, work behind the scenes has been deadly serious to ensure our client’s vision has been turned into a reality. Our team has risen to the challenge, working around the clock to ensure a seamless finish for the 3.1 x 2m sign.

“We used a combination of materials that included INDASOL’s Signblock product, a high-build filler, and a primer and finishing coat. Everything was painstakingly shaped by hand by our own managing director Ian Cooke, finished with a top coat, and then hand painted.”

Redbox explained a key element for the project was using the Signblock substrate. The material is a lightweight but ultra-durable easy-to-use polyurethane that has been developed specifically for producing detailed 3D shapes and letters.

Redbox gets down to monkey business

One of the UK’s most popular tourist attractions, Drayton Manor, has commissioned Redbox Signmakers to create the funky new signage for its Tamarin Trail attraction.
