The super-fast Super Mario wrap

Specialist vehicle graphic firm Creative FX received a storm of applause on Twitter recently when it posted pictures of a classic Caterham sport car that had been wrapped in a Super Mario rally-themed graphic montage.

“The bonnet louvres need to be heated individually, and then cut and heated once again to insure the vinyl doesn’t lift out. This takes approximately five hours to do properly and needs a second post heating,” says company director Sean Davis.

All in all, a project of this type takes around two days to install correctly including post heating using a laser thermometer

Davis continues: “The off-side of the vehicle is particularly difficult as you have to wrap around the exhaust area where the sections of body are very awkward to get to.

“The front section of the car and just behind the nose cone also requires specialist cutting around all the linkage and suspension areas. All in all, a project of this type takes around two days to install correctly including post heating using a laser thermometer.”
