RH Signright reveals ‘eye-catching’ vehicle wrap

RH Signright has created a stunning custom vehicle wrap of a T-Range tractor unit, produced in-house, for transport company Paul Arthurton.

“I was really, really pleased with it,” says Marc Smith, manager of RH Signright, adding: “The customer was happy and he was one of those customers that came to us saying ‘I want something eye-catching’ rather than coming to us and saying ‘I haven’t got much money, what can you do with this’. They were open to suggestions and I think the end result was really eye-catching and exactly what the customer wanted.”

The vehicle was supplied by parent company, Roy Humphreys Car and Commercial, while the colour coded parts were produced by sister company, RH Bodyworks, which is up for the title of ‘Commercial Body Shop of the Year’. RH Signright works with RH Bodyworks closely and it has allowed the company to broaden its opportunities.

Smith continues: “The paint shop have a lot of helicopters in to be refurbished and then we’ll create the graphics for it. We’ve got such a large site here to fit things the size of double decker buses in, which not a lot of sign shops have. It is because we are linked with the commercial body shop, so we’ve got all the facilities they’ve got.”

Sign writing techniques the company carried out include reflective vinyl on the name board and bumper, chrome vinyl above the front grill, and wrapping vinyl on the sun visor. Vinyl was also cut by hand for the front grill and pin stripping was applied on the wing mirror and side panels. Smith says knowledge of different materials is important, especially on vehicle wraps that are more complex.

“The main challenges,” explains Smith, “were the time we had to do it and the customer likes to work as you go, and add things as you go along. As with a lot of truck drivers, they were quite particular with their vehicles. Until they see it on the vehicle, they’re not always 100 percent sure they will like it. He knew what he wanted at the same time he knew he wanted to add stuff as we went along. It was a rolling job.”

RH Signright carry out around five a year vehicle wraps a year, and although not traditionally part of the business, it is a service Smith hopes to see more of in the future. “I’ve got a bit more of a background in it, and it’s something I want to bring in as a new service as some people don’t know we do it. It’s something we’d like to do a lot more of,” says Smith.
