Clyde carries off bespoke rust wrap

With the vehicle wrapping market gaining significant momentum, one company has been setting trends, but in a fairly unusual way.

For example, it has transformed a brand new Volkswagen T5 Transporter Sportline into one that looks like it is ready for the scrap heap with the use of a bespoke rust wrap.

It started with a customer asking Clyde Wraps to create the one-off rust artwork for their van, and the final result is one that has pleased both the customer and company. By taking exact measurements of the entire van, the rust was ensured to look like it was running from the door frames, handles, and mirrors.

Once the artwork was completed, the company printed a full colour digital vinyl and finished it in matt laminate—a decision that was made carefully in order to dull the colours of the rust artwork more, for even more impact.

Clyde Wraps has received such positive feedback about the ‘rust’ van that it has seen its website statistics increased by 500 percent, and following this, the same customer requested a similar vehicle wrap for his fiancé.

The second car in question, a 2015 model Volkswagen Up!, was covered with a full colour digitally printed matt laminated wrap with the same rust theme. The design involved more colour to emphasise ‘the distressed look of the design’, and they also incorporated a moss effect over the window edges and parts of the roof.
