Roland DG reacts to evolving market

In a competitive market where it is crucial to meet demand, Roland DG have responded to demands for software that will save time and create a more efficient process at an affordable price.

“As market leader in the wide-format digital print market, there has been an increasing demand for a RIP software that makes it possible to control a Roland printer with a Mac. This demand has comes from graphics houses and print businesses who are loyal users and advocates of the Mac OS X interface and also from customers from high-production environments who rely on the stability of the Mac OS X architecture,” says Mark Elvidge, print product manager of Roland DG UK.

He continues: “We wanted to ensure we met this business need with software that maximises the printer capabilities and complements our highly-popular PC based RIP, VersaWorks. By providing a powerful solution at an affordable price Rolandprintstudio certainly answers these needs and delivers much more besides.”

Rolandprintstudio will launch across Europe for Mac OS X, and will be accessible with Roland printers, printer/cutters, and standalone cutters. Visitors to FESPA 2015 will have witnessed the software in action on the Roland stand.

The Adobe PDF Print Engine is at the heart of the software for rendering artwork, enabling users to work efficiently through the RIP, print, cut process. With 64bit processing capabilities, Rolandprintstudio maximises the operating system resources, delivering fast RIP speeds.

The interface has been designed to be intuitive and user-friendly. Unlimited hot folders offer maximum automation of the RIP functionality, an image bar stores and sorts images for quick access, and an advanced nesting facility maximises media usage to save on bottom line business costs.

In order to reduce the need for expensive software, several design features have been incorporated. These include speciality colours, such as white, gloss, and metallic, can be created from CMYK data, while the software allows the adjustment of artwork for perfect pixel to pixel registration. Standard colours are all included in the software such as RAL, HKS, and pantone swatches.

“As you can see, Rolandprintstudio really is packed full of impressive features at a highly attractive price. And we are delighted that MAC users can now unlock the full creative potential of Roland’s wide format printers, print and cut systems, and stand-alone cutters,” adds Elvidge.
