EFI outlines opportunities in ceramic tile print

Digital imaging heavyweight EFI is set to unveil a line-up of printing systems that could help companies take advantage of the ceramic tile printing niche market

Due to be launched at Tecnargilla, EFI says the new systems feature advanced electronics, a newly engineered ink system, new EFI ceramic ink sets, automatic printhead cleaning technology, more compact design and a new vacuum system.

Amongst the technology is the new Cretaprint C4 printer, which boasts a number of features such as a new vacuum system to boost efficiency, the ability to detect and correct missing nozzles, and a new transport system to help achieve greater accuracy with precision alignment.

Also on display will be the new Cretaprint C3+ and Cretaprint P3+ printers with widths up to 700mm and 1400 mm wide respectively.

Ghilad Dziesnietik, chief technology officer of EFI, comments: “Tecnargilla is the ceramics industry's most important event of the year, and EFI”s teams are excited to bring so many innovations to the tile manufacturing market.”

EFI will also showcase its new ceramic inks, which it says, when combined with the Cretaprint printer and Fiery colour management, produce the “best quality ceramic products with low ink consumption”.

Dziesnietik adds: “We are combining EFI ink expertise, colour management and the best-in class workflow software in the graphics arts world with our market leading line-up and the industrial robustness of Cretaprint ceramics printing technology.”

A host of other new enhancements will be introduced at Tecnargilla, which begins in Rimini, Italy today (Monday) and runs until September 26.
