Perspex MD heads for the hills

Perspex Distribution Limited (PDL) is soon to be sharing its managing director, Keith Piggott, with the wine-rich hills of France—for half his time anyway—as he is appointed the additional role of general manager for the European sheet and composites business, at parent company Lucite International.

Piggott will now manage Lucite’s two manufacturing sites in Darwen, Lancashire and Claiurvaux, France, which produce Perspex acrylic for wide industry usage.

The success of Keith’s PDL team over the past ten years has made a significant contribution to our EMEA business

Lucite EMEA general manager Phil Bailey comments: “The success of Keith’s PDL team over the past ten years has made a significant contribution to our EMEA business. I look forward to his ethic for excellent teamwork and shared company vision  helping to drive our sheet and composites business to further success in the future.”

Perspex has been a key sign supply success story, seeing key partner Multipanel bring all manufacturing back to the UK and year-on-year market share growth. Piggott has been a key factor, with the promotion from Lucite demonstrating its faith in his abilities.

In an exclusive interview with SignLink, Piggott weighed in on his motivation and the key trends affecting the sign industry: "We need to demonstrate every day to our customers that we can provide products, a level of service, knowledge, and information that will be of benefit to their business—convincing them that their best distribution partner is PDL.

Our difference starts with our staff. It is necessary for the executive and all staff to have a shared vision, with the strategies and policies to achieve success

"Our difference starts with our staff. It is necessary for the executive and all staff to have a shared vision, with the strategies and policies to achieve success. A motivated, committed and energetic team is vital to create relationships with each other and customers. Motivation, communication and involvement of all members of the team is vital."

Piggott continues: "We still continue to raise aware-ness of our non-Perspex ranges, including PVC Foam, ACP and LEDs. We also have opportunities to continue extending our product range, which will enable us to become a prominent player in other markets, including print, LED and cast acrylic block.

"Our current four branches are working well today, but we see the need to expand further in order for us to continue to meet UK national demand. The management and staff of PDL view the future with excitement and confidence."
