Blackburns release outstrips competition

Building on the success of products such as Dibond, Skybond, and Alupanel, Blackburns has developed its own range of composite panels, which the company claims is ‘superior’ to others in the marketplace and is at the ‘cutting edge’ of technology.

Guy Hammond, national product manager, signs, at Blackburns explains: “The Blackburns composite panel is a very welcome addition to our product offering and has already been in demand from sign-makers. Our customers report that it is particularly useful for applications where potential theft is a problem because, as unlike alternative metal sheet materials, BCP has no residual scrap value, and is therefore less likely to be taken. ”

He continues: “One particular grade to highlight is the Blackburns Composite Traffic Panel, which is specifically aimed at the road traffic sign market. This has been achieved in conjunction with composite manufacturers and expertise within our own organisation, which has over thirty years’ experience of supplying metal substrates to the road traffic sector. We have also collaborated with major reflective sheeting and riveting manufacturers to ensure the product is compatible with these products and its intended use. ”

According to the firm, Blackburns aluminium composite panel is suitable for sign and display applications due to its high strength, rigidity, and durability. This rigidity is achieved by its construction, which comprises a polythene core sandwiched between two thin aluminium sheets.

“The combination of the materials and manufacturing process provides a product that can be up to a third of the weight for the same rigidity of more traditional sign and display panelling products,” concludes Hammond.
