Piggotts secures Covent Garden festive deal

Flags, banners and lighting specialist Piggotts has secured a three-year extension to its deal with Covent Garden Limited to create the Christmas illuminations across the famous London market square and surrounding streets.

Piggotts was handed the deal in response to the success of previous Christmas lighting schemes it has created in the capital.

The concept for the project was to create a ‘spectacle of light’ to act as a gateway and welcome visitors to the market place.

Using an array of 6m wide light curtains, incorporating snow fall tubes and red baubles, the Piggotts created a continuous stream of white ELD light hanging between the streets leading towards the market.

Covent Garden Limited hopes that the welcoming atmosphere will encourage more footfall, entice the public into the area and help boost local businesses as a result.

Henrietta Street, James Street, Russell Street and King Street were included last year and will again take part this year, while Floral Street will also be included this time as part of an expansion to the initiative.

In order to meet the scheduled switch-on deadline of November 6th, Piggotts began installation on October 24th.
