APS: Switch to 3rd party inks 'not daunting'

New All Print Supplies (APS) national ink sales manager Nathan Burnett says that the switch from OEM to compatible inks is 'not as daunting as it appears'

He will be responsible for the sign vinyl and material supplier's new specialist inks division, as well as its national sales of Nazdar's compatible inks, after taking up the newly created role.

“APS runs a very thorough in-house testing procedure on all supplied materials because they really understand just how important it is for all customers to have total confidence in the quality, reliability and durability of the inks,” Burnett says.

The switch to OEM inks is a big decision for most signage firms as in most cases it removes any service guarantees that were in place with its machine manufacturer.

While OEM suppliers claim the inks are of poor quality and damage machines, third-party manufacturers say this is is not the case and play up the financial benefits.

APS has been reselling Nazdar inks compatible with HP, Roland, and Mimaki devices for three years, and managing director Kevin Wallace says the cost savings can potentially be as much as 25 percent.

He believes that there is 'huge opportunity' in the third-party ink market and claims building trust between its potential and existing client base will be key to Burnett's role.

Wallace adds: “Giving the customer total confidence is the key to this role and it's great Nathan has come on board to help us build awareness amongst our client base around the quality and reliability of the Nazdar inks.”
